Seven tests of sperm included in Semen Analysis

A semen analysis is usually one of the first tests done to help determine whether a man has a problem fathering a child (infertility).

Tests that may be done during a semen analysis include:

The first is sperm viscosity. Semen is a thick gel at the time of ejaculation and normally becomes liquid within 20 minutes after ejaculation. Liquefaction time is a measure of the time it takes for the semen to liquefy. Generally if sperm is not up to the combination of fertilization and egg can not, that is an important reason leading to male infertility.

The second test is sperm motility, The number of sperm that show normal forward movement in a certain amount of semen can also be measured. If not very strong activity of sperm, the chance of pregnancy is less.

Third is the amount of semen to be 2-6 ml, about an ink bottle so much. This is a measure of how much semen is present in one ejaculation.

The fourth is to look at normal sperm PH value, pH, PH value of 7 2-7 8 between, thus facilitating the acidic environment of comprehensive womens vagina, so sperm motility is strong.

Fifth project is the examination of sperm count, the clinical examination of a few should be continuous, disease emergency does not, we can come to is suffering from oligospermia.

The sixth is the number of abnormal sperm, can not exceed 20%, or the relative number of normal sperm less, less chance of conceiving male infertility.
